In Spellfire, Artifact cards are marked with a sky-blue icon at the top left corner. Artifacts can be attached to the champions from the same world (logo) and during phase 3 only. You can not use them from the hand during phase 4. The champion entering combat from the hand does not have any artifact attached. Some rare Artifacts negate this rule and can be used during battle. That is written on the card's special powers.
Artifacts are more powerful than Magical items
Unlike magic items, artifacts are neither offensive nor defensive. Some champions can be immune to artifacts. A single artifact can affect an individual champion, all champions in a pool, change the battle conditions, or even all of the above. In the Order of Activation, artifacts precede magical items because of their power.
Each champion can have only one artifact attached to them
These powerful items can be attached only to a champion from the same world as the artifact. Each champion can have only one artifact attached to them at a time unless the card's power states otherwise. Some artifacts can also be attached to realms of the same world. Artifacts are not considered magical items.
Here are my Top 3 favorite Artifact cards:
#1 Shield of Light scares of all Monster champions
The Shield of Light Artifact card is considered Mutual. When in the pool, it can be attached to any champion of any world in phase 4 before the battle. All Monsters are afraid of the light and do not enter the combat against the shield wearer. It also raises the champion level by 5 (+5 on icon).
#2 The Key to Another Dimension negate any Realm and Holding movement restrictions
The Key to Another Dimension Artifact can be attached to any champion from the Wet Deserts world. The champion and allies with this key negate any Realm and Holding movement restrictions. For example, an opposing player has Exiled City Realm in formation which can be attacked by flyers only. The Key to Another Dimension Artifact removes this restriction and any champion who holds this key is able to attack it.
#3 The Staff of Invisibility makes the champion invisible as not "in pool"
The Staff of Invisibility makes the champion invisible. This Artifact can be attached to any champion from the Frozen Fire world. Face down and consider the champion as not "in pool" for the opposing players. This Artifact is very helpful against the Event cards and special powers of cards that can harm champions "in play". It also provides an additional 3 levels to its holder.
