A rule card is played at the beginning of your turn (phase 0) before you draw your cards. Each time a rule card is played, it alters the game's basic rules, so be aware. When another rule card is played, the previous one is always discarded. No matter how many players are playing, only one rule card may be "in play." The rule card is displayed in front of all opponents. Let's review some Rule cards examples.

Censorship Rule restricts Ninja cult powers

In the Spellfire game members of Ninja cult have a special ability to attack opponents Realm twice. If the Censorship Rule card is "in play", Ninja cult powers are restricted and do not work in the game. Ninja champions are allowed to attack only once per turn.

Code of Honor Rule restricts discarding Magical items from Champions

When the Code of Honor Rule card is "in play" Champions can not be stripped of their Magical items. For example, if a Wizard spell Fire Bolt is casted, the caster gets +2 to his Champions base level, but Magical item(s) don't get destroyed and stay with a Champion.

No Strings Attached Rule allows Earthwalkers to move without asking for permissions

When Monster champion King of Earthwalkers is "in play" all Earthwalkers (Champions and Allies) must ask permission to earthwalk. When the No Strings Attached Rule card is active, Earthwalkers do not need to ask for any permissions from other champions. They

The Rule Breaker Champion or Rulebreaker Event can affect the rules "in play"

It is also possible to discard rules by using some cards' special powers. For example, the Thief champion The Rule Breaker during phase 0, can cancel the rule. An opponent may tempt fate. If the last digit is 8 or higher, the orc fails and dies on his mission.
