In Spellfire world some Champions and Allies may possess special moving abilities. They can be Swimmers, Flyers, or Earthwalkers. In this writing, we examine Swimmers and some cards as examples of how they affect game dynamics. Champions and Allies don't have any special movement abilities if it's not stated in the card description.
Swimmers can attack any realm that shows a coastline
A swimming Champion or Ally can attack any realm in an opponent's formation that shows a coastline in its picture. This also includes realms with pictures, rather than maps, that depict coasts. The ability to swim is not automatically conferred to other cards, so a champion attacking a protected coastal realm must have the means to get their allies there if they intend to use allies in the round of battle. A swimmer cannot choose not to swim, just like an earthwalker cannot choose not to earthwalk or a flyer cannot choose not to fly. In situations where a champion or ally has several types of movement, the champion can choose which type of movement to use. For example, if a champion becomes a flyer and swimmer, they can choose how to move. Let's analyze a few cards to see this in action within the game.
Dark Water Spirit makes allies able to swim
Dark Water Spirit is a male Regent champion of Bloodborn race. When he is chosen to attack opponents' unexposed Realm, all Allies without special movement abilities are able to swim and help Dark Water Spirit in the battle.
If you have The Dolphin "in play", all your champions become swimmers
The Dolphin is the Male Monster champion of Holy Bloodborn race. Once he is "in play", all your champions instantly become swimmers and can be used to attack any unexposed coastal Realms or a front Realm which can be attacked by Swimmers only.
Water Bender controls water, all Swimmers must ask permission to swim
Water Bender is the female Wizzard champion of High-elf race. She controls all the water of Spellfire world. Any swimming Champion or Allie must ask Water Bender's permission to swim when she is "in play".
Poseidon City Realm can be attacked only by Swimmers
There are only a few Realms in the Spellfire world which can be attacked by Swimmers only. One of them - Poseidon City. It extends deep below the water level and only Champions and Allies with the ability to swim are able to attack it.
